MGYW's Donor Appreciation Luncheon
Since 2000, MGYW (Pakistani American Forum - Merit Grants for Young Women) has been successfully providing sustained educational opportunities to thousands of young women belonging to impoverished families in urban and rural areas of Pakistan. In addition to individual incentive grants, MGYW has entered into MOUs with several promising NGOs to collaborate on variety of educational and vocational training projects. All this has been made possible with sustained monetary support mostly from the U.S. donors. To show their appreciation, the MGYW Board Members recently organized an exclusive “Donor Appreciation Luncheon” to honor their long-term donors at a scenic restaurant in Newport Beach, California.
The program included welcome and brief introduction of MGYW mission by the MGYW President, Dr. Bina Kamdar. She then introduced MGYW Board Members, Tasneem Afzal (Vice President), Abida Ahmed, Sufia Altaf, Bilquis Haider (Secretary), Dr. Farhana Mohamed (Global Chair), Zeenat Jandga (Marketing), and Zille Huma Zaman (Treasurer); Board Members Shaista Khan & Iram Iqbal were unable to attend the event. This followed with Board Members introducing select projects managed by MGYW throughout Pakistan such as Hamida Shaukat Ali Foundation Girls High School, Haripur Education & Transportation, Sagri District Graduation Incentive Grants, Karachi Gift Pack, PFOWA (Pakistan Foreign Office Women’s Association) Scholarships, Individual Student Scholarships, HOPE Schools, Midwifery Program Grants, and support to Society for Educational Welfare (SEW) students. It was also mentioned that the projects are routinely visited by the Board Members at their own expense. The program was very well received by the honored guests. The MGYW Board is profoundly grateful to the generous donors and volunteers for enabling positive long-lasting changes to lives of thousands of under-privileged girls and their families residing throughout Pakistan.
