Samina and her cousin Shabana are from a very
poor working class family in Karachi. Although
conditions for their family are very difficult, they now
have the opportunity to attend primary school.

As with most girls from poor families these girls
would traditionally have been denied an education
and spent their days working beside their mothers
cleaning shrimp. While they must continue to work
from a very early age, they now have the opportunity
for an education and a better life.
